I have an Early-2011 MBP. I have successfully installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit without any issues or error messages while installing. I did all Windows updates without issues until I got to IE 9 and SP1. These two updates will not install, one time I get an error code 3701 and other times I get error code 80073701. I have tried a hotfix from Microsoft to correct windows updates fail, this did not work. I even attempted Microsoft Fix It for windows update and then tried it again in aggressive mode, neither worked. Any ideas?

this is principally a Windows software question, as it doesn't have anything explicitly to do with your Mac. No problems with those updates here.

My only idea would be to run System Restore and go back to a time/date before those updates installed. Then download each update from Microsoft's website and install them that way. Hopefully that will work.

The most likely cause is a corrupted download.
    Stop the Windows Update service
Rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to something else. (Don't delete it yet)
Restart Windows Update service and manually run Windows Update.
If it works you can delete the renamed SoftwareDistribution folder.

that's actually a really good suggestion. I did that once and it solved a similar problem. Forgot all about it.

I figured it was more of a Windows question, the only reason I posted here is its a Mac PC and some Windows users will just start clowning for running Windows on a Mac. I use both OS X and Windows a lot. I can't just run one, too many good programs used in OS X and Windows / that I use.

Thanks for the tip, I will try it. This is one thing I wish Microsoft would address there should be no issue trying to install updates like I have been having.

I have manually download the IE 9 offline install files and it fails (receive a message that explorer needs to close or I can ignore and I may have to restart but no luck, I have also downloaded the SP1 x64 Win 7 and it fails, I get an error that I am missing componets or something.
