I have a few programs that i need to use windows for that need access to the internet. I had bootcamp running XP fine on Snow Leopard and after upgrading to Lion XP runs but i have no internet connection and have yet to find a way to correct that.

It looks like i will need to install Windows 7 and will need to use the XP mode feature in Windows 7, is that possible using bootcamp?

Yes. Windows 7 will run just like Windows 7 on any other machine. XP mode will not be canceled out simply because the latest version of Bootcamp doesn't support it. Every feature in Windows 7 will be available for you to use.

I do have a peculiar question.

Can one run the same windows key in bootcamp that is being used in parallels? I would think no, but I am wondering if being tied to the same machine might mean something in this case.

It depends. If you use Parallels to run the bootcamp partition (instead of installing Windows as a virtual machine) then yes, you can use the same key and it doesn't matter. However, things won't work if you install Windows through bootcamp, activate it, install Windows as a virtual machine, and try to activate it. The license will have to be transferred from the bootcamp partition to the virtual machine.

You can use the same key, but you will need to reactivate Windows.

Except that, if you follow the second part of what I wrote, both Windows and Microsoft will view it as a different machine and the license will need to be transferred (I had to go through this after switching from Bootcamp to Parallels 7).
