I am now running Lion (took the school long enough).

And now I have VMware cooken.

Is there a way to have the 3 finger swipe to change full screen apps to go in the other direction?

Is there any way to remove the gadgets page to the left of the desktop?

Three finger swipe up to be able to re-arrange desktop locations (including full screen apps). Drag the desktops or full screen apps to the position you want them in.

To remove the gadgets page, System Preferences -> Mission Control, uncheck show dashboard as a space. You can access this by pressing F12 and it overlays the view on top of the current desktop (or Fn-F12 if F12 changes volume by default).

If you don't want OS X to rearrange your desktops on its own, also uncheck Automatically rearrange spaces based on most recent use.
