Hey guys, I've been working on my window 7 machines lately, while waiting for my new mac, and I've noticed how much time it saves me when using the window snap feature... if you are not familiar it is a feature that allows you to drag the window to the side and it will half size it so you can dual box windows on either side of the screen to maximize productivity easier.

My question is, is there any mac setting, or download that I can use/config so my Mac can do this. If not, understood, but it is so nice to use, I just can't help asking about it.

    Thanks.

Yes, there is a beta app out called Hyper dock that does that, it also gives you preview on stuff in the dock.

I was thinking about trying to find a way to actually turn that off in Windows.. I was moving things around with a lot of windows on the screen and they kept snapping, it was driving me crazy... I had no idea people actually liked it. Its cool to see 3rd parties adding it in, i just hope nothing like that ever gets put in as a default!

You'll be surprised. I use it quite often. And yes, you can turn it off quite easily, just like you can turn off UAC (which a lot of people seem to complain about...).

Aero snap and its kb shortcuts are hands down my favorite part of Win7. I use them constantly.

I can understand this... I ran into problems with low res computers, but on my home workstation i have three 1080 monitors and the high res makes the windows less sensitive. I love this feature when multitaking tho!

    snap it to the left
    snap it to the right
    take it back now y'all

The best Win7 snap like on Mac. I use it all the time, it was like 7$ but more than worth it. I use it a lot to compare windows side by side (docs, 2 safari windows ..)

Better touch tool does it. Plus a ton of other things like close windows (even in expose) with a gesture. Kicks love closing windows within expose. Tedious having to click windoe then close then expose again and repeat.

it would be nice to have something like that built in + turned off by default living in the settings menu.

I'm another vote for the "I hate Snap" camp. It's one of the first things I turn off including UAC on new Windows 7 installs.

I love it, and it drives me nuts when I'm using an older OS that doesn't have it. One of the most common things I want is to maximize a window vertically but not horizontally-something that's a simple mouse click or button press away with Windows 7.

I've never had an issue with it happening when I don't want it too...I mean if you're dragging something to the edge and it does it just drag slightly more to pull it off.

UAC is a good thing (and actually Apple got it years earlier, although Windows implements it better still). Unfortunately they weakened it in Windows 7, so crank it back up to max.

Oh god, you're killing me. I hate not having it on every computer, haha.

Agreed about UAC. Honestly, too, what most people don't realize is that UAC is pretty adaptive; after a while unless you're constantly making drastic changes it shouldn't bug you too much, either.
