    Hey guys,

Just a quick question. In terms of performance, battery life, and software support, which version of windows is better on bootcamp for mac? Sorry if this question has already been answered.

WinXP will probably give you better battery life then Win7, although Win7 handles RAM and processing power more efficiently. If it were me, I would probably go with Windows 7 to keep up to date etc, knowing most software is now compatible with it.
If you reason for installing is for gaming, then WinXP will probably perform better.

Same here, i would also go for w7 because it's come quite a long way since it was first introduced. The difference in battery life is minimal.

I went with Windows 7 because Windows is going to stop supporting XP in 2012. As for battery life, you can tweak Windows 7 power settings way more than XP's.

They both stink for battery life compared to Mac OS X. I have five Macs with BootCamp. Three have Windows XP and two have Windows 7 x64. I prefer Windows 7. Windows 7 x64 edition will also make use of memory above 4 GB which might be a consideration for you in the future. My office desktop has 9 GB of RAM and it's running Windows 7 x64 (Core i7 processor). It's pretty nice for Windows.

thanks for the reply mmoy. considering the 32 bit version vs 64 bit version, do you find that the 64 bit version requires more juice from the macbook pro and hence a rise in temp compared to the 32 bit?

Also, is there any significant difference in terms of performance and system specs, between the the home premium and ultimate edition?

Battery life is the same. I had 32 bit before i installed the 64 bit one. The only use i have for windows is gaming and 64-bit premium does the job fine. Performance is the same comparing premium and ultimate. It's just that ultimate has more options than premium.
