I posted a question in the Running Windows on a Mac sticky, but seek a wider reach.

Due to the limited SSD capacity, I'm interested to remove MacOS from my soon-to-purchase MBA. To be frank, I probably won't purchase it unless I'm confident it will run after I remove MacOS.

Firstly, I'm curious whether I will need bootcamp to install win7 initially, as I understand that with rEFIt it is possible to boot to a USB drive. I'm assuming though that there's an issue with initially loading drivers? Appreciate any personal experiences here...

If the bootcamp steps can't be avoided, once I've installed win7 and defined this partition as my “Startup Disk”, could I then simply delete all others? Mthks in advance

Yeah, that thread is one I started and I suggest you head there for my experiences with rEFIt. As far as the ONLY OS goes, I'm keeping an OSX partition just in case I want to use iLife or FaceTime, but I may ditch it.

Anyway, during my research I found some helpful articles about having it as the only OS. As far as I know the only problem might be a long start up time due to the boot loader searching for a missing OSX partition, but apart from that it works fine.
