I have been reading about the new chip Intel has just announced. I am hoping that Mac will adopt this soon (I hear somewhere Q12008). So I was wondering given the many post here and elsewhere about the heat issues related to the SR chip in MBP, will the penryn chip much cooler?

I guess time will tell, but wanted to know from the fundi's here if they had any thoughts?

    Many thanks

    S

i really wouldnt worry about the heat that much witht the current mbps i really was expecting more before i got mine. and even if it does get a little hot for you, you can jack up the fans.

anyway the mbps get updated around every 6 months so that sounds about right.

The way the case is designed to be slim, lightweight, and metal there is no way to avoid heat with these powerhouses. They don't get hot unless you're in Bootcamp or running something intensive such as a game or long video in my experience.
