So, I'm thinking of buying a MBP, but the fact that they don't even offer accident coverage bothers me. So, if I drop the thing or spill something, I'm just out two grand? Is there any other way to get accident protection?
Do you folks who already have a MBP worry about this at all? I mentioned it to an apple worker and she said "The quality of the workmanship makes this unnecessary." Well, that doesn't make me very comfortable. Any input?
Also, I think I'm going to get the the Pro, but I'm wondering if I should just get the Macbook black. I'm not a gamer, don't do heavy graphics work. I'm a professor. Lots of word processing. So, I'm a pretty basic user. The most I ever do is some home studio multi-track recording--by the way, will logic express fulfill my recording needs? anybody using it out there? how does it compare to other recording programs?
Anyway, I'm a basic user, but I want a quality machine. I want to have some headroom you know. Also, I want a 15 inch screen. And I think I'm willing to spend the 400 bucks to get a better machine. However, the accident thing worries me. I am quite careful with my gear, but I don't like the thought of one slip up costing me the laptop. What do you folks think?

The quality of the workmanship rather built like a tank or not doesn't make it any less vulnerable. You can try Safeware. They sell accidental damage insurance for laptops. http://www.safeware.com/
Why no accident coverage?
