I am debating wether to invest the 2gn of ram (and new battery) on my fiances old white macbook (or buy a 250$ish netbook) to have a spare portable machine for WoW on the go. My worry is this macbooks old enough it may not be playable. Anyone have any idea if 25+ fps in wow playing in 5 mans and battlegrounds is sustainable on low settings on this older mac? Thanks in advance.

What is the video card on that thing? I'm sure it's playable, it's just a matter of settings, I'd say it'll surely play great on low, and you might even get it to medium settings playable. I need to know the graphics card though, as this is more important than RAM or CPU. :)

Check the specs on my sig, I run WoW at max settings (even with 4GB ram, ram shouldn't matter, I'd guess 2GB would be enough), 30fps average even at SOTA. Considering I only have a 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo..Video Card is important though. :)

I think the Macbook can play WoW WAY better than the average netbook.

Uh-oh..according to this, the Intel GMA 950 can't run WoW even in low settings..15fps on ultra low, and this is average..You can try it though..but I don't think it'll run..Well at least according to notebookcheck.

Macbooks (even the current gens) were/are never meant for gaming. If you want to game on apple products MBP's are necessary.

Even then MBP's were never really meant for gaming. There are far less expensive Windows units (which is a better OS for gaming anyway) that run better hardware than a MBP.

I highly doubt that you would be able to find a $250 netbook for running WoW either. You would also be running into the same issue there as netbooks (and even notbooks) are definitely not designed for gaming and even the best ones require pretty low settings (they also cost around $500).
