Hey guys - Just picked up my new macbook (white) couple days ago and i JUST noticed that the palm rest on my laptop is starting to get dirty. What is this about? I know its a clean, white computer and dirty hands can make it dirty...but i didnt have dirty hands? Right where my palms sit has started to turn brown, so i took some isopropyl alcohol and a tissue and cleaned it off..it took a while, but its back to perfect now - i guess im just gonna type without touching my palm to the palmrest ...but is there any suggestions from anyone whose had the same problem? Or better asked, has ANYONE experienced this problem?

    Scott

I own a MBP and I noticed when my palms sweat, even though I just washed my hands before I used it, the silver palm portions turn slightly white. Despite this, wiping it off is very easy and everything is back to normal.

Well, you can wash your hands all you want, but your hands are always going to have a combination of oils and dead skin cells. Thats what's causing the palmrest to get dirty.

If this is a big concern, I would simply buy a guard from invisishield.

yeah i suspected so - but even so, the white macbook showing brown dirt looks awful and it took quite a bit of rubbing with rubbing alcohol to get rid of it... ugggghhh quite frusterating

Kelch! Wow, thats a great idea - but im into the looks of my laptop, so my question is: does that invisishield make the laptop look different when applied? Hell - i guess ill just look to the website and check it out for myself..but thanks for the idea-if it doesnt look too ugly ill definitely buy one.

Edit: WOW KELCH! That's an awesome shield...and to think, it protects ONLY the palmrest which is exactly what i wanted! Thanks a lot buddy, ordering now!

I've gotten several shields from shieldzone... One for a Zune screen, one for an iPod Nano, and one for a Vx8600.

How they look is a direct result of how well they are applied. Do your homework (feel free to IM me/shoot me a PM) on the proper way to apply the shield and it should be mostly unnoticeable.

The other alternative is to find some sort of wax intended for use on plastics. That would at least make cleaning easier.

My white MacBook palmrest doesn't get dirty much...when it does I just wash it with water and a cloth. After a few rubs it goes away.
