I am looking buy either the low-end MBP or the Blackbook sometime this or next year. I dont have to immediately buy one, and huge updates to the whole line of MacBook/Pro in 2009. I can easily wait and probably will end up doing so. What i am wondering is which is the better one to buy 2009 Blackbook or the 2009 equivalent to the 2.4 MBP. I do some gaming, so MBP might be the natural choice, but in '09 the graphics cards in the Blackbook will obviously be far better with the new chipsets, so price diff. and all which one is better?.

I do gaming and us MS office (word, powerpoint, etc.) very often. I also surf the web very often, listen to lots of music as well.

Screen size isn't a huge deal i like 13" for portability, and 15" for home use so either is really ok.

I have experience with macs, however this'll be my first mac that i personally own. I am only interested in Mac I hate PC.

    Thx
    Jvis

Which is better well all I can say for certain is that the Macbook Pro will still be "better" in 2009.

Everything else is just pure speculation... Apple always doesn't follow suit 100% with Intel chipsets.

i was just going to say um... why mac if you want to go game. obviously there is parallels though so.. go ahead. the blackbook only has integrated as far as I know so you won't get very far in the gaming world depending on which game.(definitely not crysis) MBP is bigger though... i'd maybe suggest a pc even though you sound very against it. What do you need a mac for? Is there some certain requirement or something?

By gaming i didn't mean intense i meant pretty light stuff stuff that the MBP could handle extremely easy and probably the Blackbook would take it a bit harder like Age of Empires (games like that) not graphic intensive ones like crysis .
sorry for not being totally clear.
The reason i like macs is because i use them everyday at college and i like them much more (leopard, as well as design) I also need my notebook to be very secure as my pc with all the antivirus software still blu screens once a week.

really? your pc is f'ed then and you must have had a bad experience cause most users don't. But I think you answered your question about the gaming. I'm pretty sure either of the notebooks could "handle" AOE. If you like the macs then i'd say go for it. but only buy when you need.

There's always newer and better stuff coming, so if you wait forever you'll never be able to buy one. So I say buy now. :)

If you're even thinking about gaming at all, then you'll want the MBP.

Granted, the X4500 with Montevina will be more powerful than the current X3100, but I highly doubt it's going to be that much more powerful.

Well, as for portability, the MacBook and MacBook pro have comparable weight, only the MacBook Pro has slightly larger dimensions, but otherwise pretty similar. I would definitely get the MBP if you could afford it.

Remember that when the 09 model is out, to buy it and not wait for more updates. Otherwise you'll never get around to actually buying one :p.
