    Greetings,
I am a long time PC user with very little time on Apple products. Having said that I have always found that they have had some nice products but for various reasons at various times I have always decided to keep going with Windows PC type products. Now my girl friends brother is going to be picking up a PowerBook through his colleges (OCAD) laptop program and has asked me for my opinion on it. I have have looked at his two choices from an outsiders prespective, but was wondering if an of you PowerBook users out there could give me your 2 cents on this. I have listed the two below and the only performance upgrades available are: upgrading to 1GB of PC2700 SDRAM for $75(CDN) or upgrading to 1GB of PC2700 SDRAM for $230(CDN). His major is in graphic design and he will be using the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, GoLive, and Acrobat Professional and Microsoft Office 2004. He also has a desktop PC with a DVD burner and the school has Apples with DVD burners available for student projects.

    Thanks for any help,
    Bryan

I, too just made the switch. I bought #1 b/c I don't think the upgrades to #2 are worth the xtra$$.

I'm still adjusting, but so far so good. I love the way the PB looks and the keyboard is great. I'm really liking OSX, too.

If you need Office for Mac, you can get it on eBay for a lot less than MS or Apple.

If you're comfortable putting in your own memory, crucial has 512MB for < $80 w/free shipping.

    Good luck!
