The latest version of Quicktime for Windows, version 7.4, has a problem with my software that needs Quicktime. I need to download a slightly older version, perhaps version 7.3 or 7.2 to make it work.

Where can I download the older version of Quicktime? Does Apple maintain an archive of Quicktime?

Why don't you try Quicktime Alternative? Personally I dislike Quicktime and its constant nagging for an upgrade to the paid version.
Check the link to Wikipedia. There's a link to where you can download the Alternative. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicktime_alternative

Because my programs (Webster Visual Dictionary and Encyclopedia Britannica) require Quicktime and won't work with any alternative. And it's not just for playing .mov files. There are other features within the program that only work with Quicktime.

None of my software is dependend on Quicktime. Maybe if you Google for older versions. But doesn't Apple offer older versions of Quicktime on their website?

installing an older version of Quicktime is not a very easy process unfortunately, you have to go through some third party methods, or do an archive install.

If the software you are having problems with is After Effects, then you can just update to the latest 7.4.1 which specifically addresses this issue.

Are you using time machine? If so then you can just go in there and find QT before you did the update, bring it back and install it over the one thats currently installed.
