I was able to use edu discount since I'm a grad student. However, the tax is killing me (around $160).
Any idea where they sell the updated MBP (w/ leopard) outside of CA?
Something like portableone would be awesome.

MacMall has the refreshed Macs, but I don't know if they charge sales tax.

Even if you get it outside Canada, shipping it to you thru border will cost tax anyway.

Isn't this the case? If not, I would like to buy outside Canada as well then!

If you can go to Oregon sometime, you can take advantage of no sales tax there.

Sure there are, you'll just have to find them. The Apple site usually gives you the directions.

Goof luck. I am in CA, and it is difficult to get anything tax free online. If the company has some sort of brick and mortar presence in CA, they are forced to charge sales tax. Outside of taking a trip to Oregon, you are probably stuck paying sales tax.

No official Apple stores. Unfortunately, only five countries currently have Apple Stores (I know there are a few countries getting them though, such as Australia) - USA, Canada, UK, Japan and Italy.
