I'm looking to pick up a new Macbook Pro in the next 2 weeks and I was wondering what store would be the cheapest but most reliable. I was thinking straight from Apple (store or online?) Newegg, Tigerdirect, Best Buy, MacMall(?)... please let me know what my best options are. Thanks

thanks for that site. right now they have a 4% off which takes the price down to 1762.99 after rebate. How good of a deal is this? Would buying from apple with a student discount be any better/more reliable?

Keep in mind that you'll have to pay tax if you purchase it from the apple store or apple.com. I would probably get it from amazon since it is cheaper even compared with the student discount. In terms of reliability and service, amazon and apple are comparable. Either way, your warranty is done through Apple.

Pretty much where ever you get it, the warranty is covered through Apple (with a few exceptions). I, personally, bought mine from BestBuy. :)

I find that if there was something wrong with it, returning it to the store is a lot less hassle than if I had bought it online. :)
