I am looking at the upgraded MacBook Pro 15" 2499USD system so i was wondering.

What kind of gaming benchmarks can it get

And where can i get it cheapest

Because i was thinking of the Asus A8js instead because everything is the same or better except battery and cpu

You can find macs for less with a rebate at Amazon.com, MacMall.com, MacConnection.com and the like. Be aware that if they aren't authorized dealers, you will have to go through apple for service. Returns are not necessarily gauranteed on DOA products which depends largely on the individual policies. Even still. you may end up playing the waiting game while something is repaired within 4-6 weeks.

Alternatively, Apple has it's own refurb section. This is the "cheapest" way to purchase a mac safely. It probably won't be tax free but if it's broken, defective or other, you'll be taken care of immediately. Next cheapest is getting a "refreshed" model direct from an apple store. They are non-returnable, but carry a 10% discount

    Check out student discounts also!

    And perhaps even ADC discounts.

Refurbished is the best...you can get it at a 20% discount with no real noticeable difference between the refurb and a new one.

Amazon's great with their return policy. You can start a return on their website, and never once had I had a product that arrived late from amazon. And um the people on the phone are courteous and professional.

With ram so cheap right now, the $2499 model did not seem worth it in comparison to the $1999 model.

    Just my opinion.

    $1999 +$68 (1GB ram) = $2499 model (minus 128MB VRAM and 173MHz per core)

Sorry, even getting a refurbished model, the cheapest MBP is around $1400 after taxes.

That benchmark is from the 2.16GHz model with 128MB of VRAM. The 2.33 will have a slightly higher score. 3976 is what I saw in one review.

    I agree.

At that point, the difference in 3DMark scores (or even just general CPU tasks) is really too small to warrant spending $500 more for more video and system RAM. Just stick with the $1999 model (or you can even go refurb for cheaper, but no slick box)

I do not think that you can get a macbook pro for less than 1000. You can get a macbook for less than 1000 though
