    My iPhone has a Notes app which has two choices - my Mac and my Gmail. But when I go into Gmail expecting it to be there somewhere I can't find it. Isn't it supposed to sync?

    My Apple Notes app does sync to gmail.
    Under "Settings - Mail, Contacts and Calendars", you can set up a gmail-account (if you have one), and then you can either switch 'notes' synchronization on or off.

    In gmail, you can find these notes on the left of your screen: in the same column where you have 'Inbox, Drafts, Sent Mail,...' there's a field called 'Notes'.

    As simple as that :)

    I have my GMail account set up as MS Exchange and Notes is not available for sync that way. It might work if you set it up as a straight GMail account, but there are other issues that crop up with mail itself if you go down that route. I keep notes synced with iCloud, and that suits my purposes just fine.

    So you're telling me setting up a gmail-account as Exchange (i.e. ActiveSync) on your iPhone gives you less issues then setting it straight up as gmail (the way it is intended I'd presume).

    You've made me curieus!

    Could you please elaborate on;

    - what the advantages are when setting it up as an Exchange account
    - what the issues are you're having with the gmail setting in iOS Mail app

    In addition to push, this was also the reason why my GMail was set up as Exchange. I migrated to an iPhone from Android, and this was the only way I could retrieve all my contacts without having to input them manually. Once iCloud got up and running, I transferred them from GMail and don't have to worry about it. Since Exchange works just fine otherwise, I've not needed to change how my e-mail is configured on the phone.
