I don't think there's a poll for this yet, so I thought I'd start one up. My guess is in early to mid-August, before school gets started again.

Can a forum-moderator make a slight adjustment to the "November" option in the poll to be "November or December"?

I would guess shortly after the back to school free ipod deal is over.

I'm gonna guess September - they want to get most if not all of the current MacBooks and iPod touches out the door before updating either of these two models.

Any idea if the Mac Mini will see an update of some kind? I can't believe left it stale like that for so long. Apple should at least update it with X3100 graphics, and bump the maximum memory from 2 GB to 4 GB... Oh, and while they are at it, offer piano black paint finish :D.

Definitely before October. Whether that is August or September...hmm :p. I'd call September, because I don't think they'll do a product transition in the middle of their Back-to-school promotion.

It will be September, what's funny is that with some pretty simple reading on the internets you'd find out you shouldn't buy ANYTHING right now if you're thinking of going Apple...because the update is so close, but people will still walk into the store and pick something up today.

My friend just bought a MBP last week. I was like dude what are you thinking!

Well College will start for most people long before the updates, so most can't really wait for Apple to release the improved macbooks.

Apple can deploy the refreshes/updates and still keep the iPod promo active for the older generation units. Sure, there will be some customers confused on which MB/MBP/MBA will get them a free iPod but that shouldn't be too much of a problem for Apple.

Apple had released the Santa Rosa MBP's in the summer of 2007 and were already offering free iPod's then.

They haven't even started the back to college promo in Ireland yet. Maybe they won't as they don't think we are worthy of it. I was hoping to get an iMac 24" with a Touch to use as a reader but I have choosen to wait and not order it from Canada (I have student-type people to order using the promo over there) in the hope that they will update the product line in the Irish college promo and I can get the new iMac (does anyone think there will be an update to these?) in Ireland with a printer and new Touch. Apart from me does anyone else think I'm dreaming and kidding myself.

I really want to have it be in august while the promo still goes on, and I dont want a case redesign because as seen with the imac redesigns and other huge transitions in the past, there have been so many quality issues, I would rather have new tech on a stable chassis with years of use than new tech + new chassis

Does it matter? I'm not in the market...and won't be, for a while.

Well at least until my macbook pro shows signs that it's ready to crap out.

On the other hand, I think they should take it one at a time, interior first, exterior later. Or vice versa.

The Santa Rosa MBP refresh was in June. I don't think Apple has ever refreshed in August before, not for the MBA, MB, MBP, iBook or Powerbook anyways. It has happened with the desktops before though.
