Anyone know when the macbook is going to get Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) in it, more specifically in Canada? I'm thinking of getting a MB (MBP too expensive) and i might wait for the new leopard if it is soon.

And also are there any changes to the MB with leopard (physically)?

Nobody knows the answer to your question. Apple keeps secrets.

We do know however that Leopard is coming out in "October" - if you were to buy a Macbook on the release day of Leopard, 99.9% sure the mb's won't have leopard preloaded - but they'll just give you an "upgrade" disk for free most likely. If you purchase a macbook AFTER Leopard is announced, they will give you a free (or very, very cheap 10$) upgrade. So once we know an official release date it's safe to buy.

I guess Jobs made it clear enough that the Leopard launch will be in October of 2007. The only question that remains is how they plan on deploying it on the laptops. According to me, within a week of the launch most outlets would have MBPs with Leopard pre-installed, up for sale. Guess the Macbooks will have it too. Steve was positive that Leopard would run on most current hardware configs, so it makes no sense holding back the OS only on the Macbooks.

Unless Apple has a massive stock of pre-installed systems sitting in their warehouses waiting to ship to retailers, it's probably going to be a bit longer than a week before you see them. Like many product rollouts, it's more likely you'll see a phase-in where Apple will include some kind of upgrade disc until existing stock is largely cleared from inventories. That will certainly take a few weeks at least.

^^ I did think of that. But then it could really lead to a deadlock if people keep waiting for Leopard to come pre-installed and the Tiger machines just sit on the shelves. Let's just hope the Tiger Macs are sold out quick :D

Hand over that $1, JimyTheAssassin ;). Apple usually updates their OSes on Fridays; its a tradition, kind of like how Apple only updates hardware on Tuesday.
