I finally decided to get the Macbook or Macbook Pro but I hear that the Santa Rosa platform based with leopard built in ones will release near March. That is only 2 months away and I can wait. The problem is, will these new machines that are shipped with different platforms and new OS X have issues and other defects like when Macbooks and pros came out first. If that's the case, I would have to wait even longer for Apple to update and improve them like the current Macbooks.

i'ts doubtful they'll run into as many issues. The change to the MB/MBP line was a MAJOR change for Apple. This is a fairly minor change really. I believe Apple's history of OS upgrades have been excellent.
Remember it's not like windows. You don't need to wait till a service pack is released to get true stability. And the next OS X version is mainly a large update, not a whole new os.

and I can't believe you haven't gotten a mac yet!

How long has it been, vaio_boi? You posted so many threads to make sure your choice was ABSOLUTELY correct, and it seems you're still not sure yet :D.

Most of the problems were caused by the change to Intel. The Core 2 Duo versions of the MacBook and MacBook Pro addressed a lot of the problems, like the underclocking of the ATI Radeon X1600. I'm not 100% sure of course, but the update to Centrino Pro (official name to Santa Rosa) should be a smooth transition.

Mac OS X Leopard is, as hollownail very nicely explained, a large update of existing applications and some new features. Don't worry too much.

I'm guessing it'll be just like the change from Core Duo to Core 2 Duo, which was flawless.

Santa Rosa wont be updated so quickly, i think it'll be paired with the new OS and a new GPU, most possible the Nvidia 8600.

Leopard will not be released with Santa Rosa unless it is late. Santa Rosa is looking like April or so and Leopard is due by the end of March. Also, rumors are that Leopard is actually a major update, not something small. Many think the reason we saw no iLife 07 or iWork 07 is that they rely heavily on features in Leopard. There are also many saying that Leopard breaks many current apps. I think it may be a bigger update than people think. I also think it is late. They did not even mention it at Macworld which hints that development is behind. Time will tell.

Well even if Leopard comes out first and is put on, when santa rosa comes out, it will be immediately in Macbooks/pros wouldn't it.

I am not sure what you are asking. When Leopard is available all new Macs sold will have it immediately, and I think Apple will even retrograde those bought within a week or so, I think, not sure though.

As for Santa Rosa, if Merom was any indication, it could be a couple months after Santa Rosa's release before we see it in Apple products. So Santa Rosa in April, it could be as late as July or August before Apple decides to move, or it could be April. There is little point in trying to wait with Apple since they almost never pre-announce.

Centrino pro is not worth waiting 6 months. Especially since the current MBP has 802.11n installed. In the technology industry everything changes as the months go by. If you wait for Santa Rosa, then you'll want to wait for the 45nm processors...then ddr3...then quad core mobile chips....then dx10 chips...then flash memory drives. I mean christ, if you want a laptop go and buy one now, otherwise you'll be waiting forever.

It's not like the performance increase is going to be huge anyway. It's just an fsb bump from 677 to 800 which will consume more power, 802.11n capability, rumored hsdpa capability (which you can get an express card for), and some deeper sleep features. The market is always going to change whether you like it or not. Be my guest and keep waiting. You only have one life to live.
