On netbooks like the Wind or NC10.... are there any real advantages of having a Apple OS opposed to M$ OS? I'm pretty n00b when it comes to macs so yeah.... I know they're more stable and have less issues with viruses but when it comes to simple tasks like VOIP, word documents and browsing is that extra bit of stability really worth the extra trouble?

Or is it one more like one of those "Because I can, I will" type of deal?

If you are referring to installing OS X on a netbook then that conversation cannot take place here on our forums. Netbooks come with Windows XP and it violates Apple's license to install OS X on anything other than a Macintosh computer.

There might be some compatibility issues too. If you want something more legal, feel free to open another topic to ask around about linux on netbooks.

I'd just stick with whatever u got (and upgrade the ram) if I were u.

we can switch the question to installing linux on netbooks, which is free and more similar to osx than windows.

you give up the ability to run windows software (microsoft office, for example)

but instead- there are software suites to replace such paid software, and they are totally free.

openoffice has an equivalent for word, excel, etc, and boasts compatibility with office documents. there is plenty of voip software available on linux platforms, and you can browse the web.

honestly, if you are only doing simple tasks like you mentioned, thats all the more reason to switch to a stable OS like linux. why deal with the nonsense?

I own a NC10. It was designed for Windows and it's 100% stable with XP. Running OS X on it will not make it any more stable or faster. Some of the components wouldn't even work in OS X and powermanagement will not be as efficient.

As said, it's illegal so it's purely hypothetical.
