It breaks like crazy. I have bought several from Amazon for a dollarish each and even bought some 6 ft but they are so fragile, one yank and that's it, they stop working.

Maybe I should buy another 6 ft and be really careful all the time with it? But there are other members of the family that might not be careful with it even if I'm careful with it.

I use USB chargers from my Tab 2, and three generic chinese wall <--> USB chargers (from phones). It works with no problems.

But I would recommend you to buy the original apple USB <--> iphone connector

I would highly recommend this one:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003YUBV60/ref=wms_ohs_product

It have been using it for over a year now without a single issue. At the time the price was around £7.00 + free shipping, which is way cheaper than Apple's original dock. I believe the reason this dock served so well is that you don't need to fiddle around like with the cables, just dock the phone and that's it - no need to search where to put your gadget in order not to scratch it etc. To be honest when I received it I could not believe the build quality, which was comparable to Apple's own offering. Phone sits tight, but you don’t need to force it onto the dock or when taking off thus fearing it might break the iPhone’s 30pin connector. It even comes with RCA to 3.5 headphones jack cable if you want to connect anything. Plus it's black, which at least for me matches my iPhone 4 colour.

The dock seems a good choice for overnight charging. It would be even better if there was one where I can actually use by holding it in hand while charging, and is not easy to break like the ones that are out there.
