I dunno about the GPS.. but the compass.. yes.. but if the compass is as good as the one in my iPhone 3GS, then you'd never tell if it was being thrown off anyways..it rarely knows where north is. i thought it was just mine, but 3 others I've looked at are just as bad.

I'd have to say that about the compass in my 3GS as well......not one of Apple's better ideas.

just going off the the product reviews left on some of these cases websites.

this was left in the review of one of the more popular right now (Eco-Vue):

"But the big problem is that my iPad is the 3G model. You know, the one with the GPS? And compass? Yes, a compass. And that compass doesn't work while the iPad is in this folio, because for some reason, Marware thought it would be a good idea to use a magnet to hold the flip-stand closed.

This may work ok on a wifi-only model (although I'd have to wonder for how long), but it is a major flaw if you've got a 3G unit and expect to be able to use the compass.

I love the folio, however, and am considering doing surgery on it to remove the magnet. I think Marware should really look into redesigning the flip-stand to replace the magnet with a different kind of closure."

    sooo...yea. something to think about.

by the way, if you want to really see how the compass can be cool, download Sky Walk. just amazing.

Yes the compass could use some work on the 3GS so I'd say the iPad's is most likely the same. I feel like an idiot moving my phone in a figure eight and can only imagine how dumb I'd look doing it with the iPad. Yet another reason I'm happy with my Wifi version. :) I still think the Apple case is the best but can understand wanting leather.

The most futuristic device in the most primitive case ever! At least people wouldn't think that there is an iPad inside. Good for being an anti theft item?

I don't know if I'd go that far. This one makes me think of Indiana Jones for some reason. :)
