    hi,

    i couldn't find the name of the chipset used in the new MacBook Pro 17", does anyone know, cause i was on their site and saw that the MBP 17 can take 8GB of DDR3, i was like "wah!!!"...

    so does anyone know the name of the chipset used?

    Intel and AMD/ATI's newest chipsets also support 8GB memory.. and nVidia 9400G is the integrated graphics and is pretty much synonymous with their chipset.

    The new Macbooks use a chipset from nVidia. Therefore it does not have an Intel codename.

    ok,

    thats why i couldn't find an intel express chipset that takes 8gb of DDR3, i think the max DDR3 that the current Intel Express chipset can take is 4gb...?

    Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure the Intel Mobile 4 Express series chipset (GM45/PM45) supports DDR3 RAM (up to 8GBs of it)
