On Apple's webpage, I noticed an option for buying refurbished laptops. I'm considering buying a refurbished Mac book pro for $1,599 that is normally priced at $1,999, new. It has a 1.83 GHz Core duo, 512 mb of ram, and a Radeon x1600 (128 mb of video memory) graphics card.
Do you think itÂ’s a bad idea? I have the option of using a student discount that reduces non-refurbished price of $1,999 down to $1,799 but the refurbished model seems like a good deal.
What are your thoughts?

It seems like a good deal, I just bought the revised unit which now comes with a 2Ghz Core Duo and a glossy screen.
All in all, I doubt you are going to feel the difference in processor speed. -
Nice thing about Apple is they usually have the full warranty on all their refurbed products.

Hi,
Have been purchasing refurbs from Apple for more than 10 years. New unit warranty, Apple Care available, cosmetically perfect and have had no issues with the refurbished products.
Most recent was an iBook in January. Very satisfied.
