I am near my decision of buying one of these. But for each of this machine, which week is the best to buy? People are saying anywhere after week 30 but I want to be sure since I don't want any shutdown, discoloring, overheating problems. Also if the week is a good one, would it have none of these problems? Apple kept on updating as weeks passed by right?

Also, where can you check the week number?

Generally the newest aren't as prone to the aforementioned issues.

You can check the build week by the serial no.

On the MacBook Pro you see: W86xx, where the xx represent the week build.

On the MacBook you see: 4H6xx, where the xx also represent the week build.

Yeah, any MB and MBP you order through apple will be new ones. Especially MB... since they see to have trouble keeping them in stock right now.

If you look at the apple forums even the latest builds are having shutdown issues..many still after sending them in for a repair that included a new logic board and heatsink.

Sorry, my mistake. The MacBook serial no. starts with 4H6xx, where xx represents the build week :)

That means your MacBook were made during week 38.

So why is it that Apple can't completely get rid of this problem? I don't think any other laptops have problems with this.

Yes, week 38 is good. Any MacBook above eh, lets say 35, is/should be fine.

So anything from 35 above, doesn't have problems?

    1. Shutdown
    2. White case color change
    3. Overheat

Awesome. So my 38 week build should/can be problem free?

And, how sure are you on this?
