I"m sure there are a lot of people with the problems and then there are a lot without, but I wonder if this will be successful as some people in the world would care less to do something as simple as calling tech support. They would rather worry about their own personal life at the moment. Simply put, mass calling on the 20th is not their #1 priority.
I think they would have to be specific though, otherwise Apple wouldn't react to this public display. I've read around and it seems the 17'' MBPs addressed the whine issue and some of the heat issue. I played around w/ one at the Apple store two days ago and it was only warm to the touch and had no noticeable whine. The 15'' at the store however had a slight whine, was very hot near the F1-F2 keys, and was unbearable underneath near the battery. Then again, I also tried another 15'' last week at a local Fry's electronics and the one they had on display had no whine or heat problems. I think it's difficult to say if Apple did address any of the problems w/ the new revisions, but I would think that Apple would probably ignore the effects of the mass calling and tell the media that the issues were "addressed" and/or there are no such issues, simply because the 17'' seem to have none of these issues.

It is just a whine noise. There is also one that sounds exactly like a cow mooing, hence the moo sound. There is a clip of it somewhere. Its rather awful really lol. I hope they fixed it.

Heh I like the moo noise actually... I thought it was pretty funny. Probably will get annoying after awhile though. The whine noise I found a clip on youtube here . Take note some owners don't have it while others are slight. I can only imagine though if you were in a quiet place like a library, then the whine would seriously be frustrating to have.

I go to school where the cows walk along the parking lot to the beef processing unit (lol) and moo every morning. The other students walking to class always look at the direction towards the cow when they moo, so knowing that the MBP moos too is quite interesting. Brings a warm feeling to my heart. lol
