I am leaving town June 23 and need to have my new MBP in my hands at least a few days before that to get some free software loaded (I work for a university). I know this is anybody's guess, but if Apple does come out with the next generation, how likely would it be to happen right around the WWDC? It is scheduled for June 11-15. I am wondering if this is worth the bother. I can save a couple of hundred bucks on a refurbished model.....

If you need something very soon I would say buy now. The only person who has decided when all the announcements will come is Steve and he's not telling anyone outside of Apple.

Keep in mind that even if there is a new product announcement you won't get it shipped immediately. It will take time for the supply to catch up with initial rush of orders, something to think about.

You can always buy something on the cheap and then put it up on ebay.

They announce at WWDC, then they ship.

The gap between those two events is anyone's guess.

Almost aways the "high-end" model is delayed.

People should already be selling in anticipation, so, look on Craigslist or e-bay and see how the market is?

It is a little frustrating. I may end up buying a MBP and having the new version come out days later (perhaps a couple of weeks later factoring in shipping time for new models). If I buy refurbished (more of those seem to be available these days--Apple getting rid of stock??), at least I will save a couple of hundred bucks.

    That is really frustrating diver.

If I was in your position, I think I'd pick up a refurb macbook for now, and get one of the new MBPs whenever they are readily available. You could then sell the MB without taking a huge loss.
