Is it possible? Does it work alright? I was thinking of just picking up a OEM copy of Vista Home Basic just so I can run my Windows app's. Would the drivers contained in BootCamp work alright for Vista?

Yes, you can run Vista on the MacBook via Boot Camp.

    From Apple's Boot Camp requirements:

No :p. I don't use Boot Camp, Parallels or VMware Fusion on this MacBook. I can't afford even a Windows license .

I've used boot camp with both Windows XP Pro and Vista and both run magnificantly on the MBP. I ran the Windows Vista Experience performance tool on the MBP and it scored a whopping 4.8 as the base score. That's incredible for a notebook. However, if you attempt to run Vista virtually using Fusion it doesn't run very well unless you have something more than 2 GB of memory installed. I'm looking into getting more memory just so I could do that, and other memory hogging stuff. Also, when running windows xp or vista through boot camp the temperature is a bit higher than what you'd get in Mac OSX.

A lot of recent notebooks cap at 4.8...mostly because of the RAM. On the other hand, I've seen some notebook scores get over 5 on RAM, which is...surprising...

So I'm upgrading from Vista Business to Ultimate as I type, and it is one horrendously long process......

I wanna check out dreamscape and the MUI though...the MUI especially can be quite useful.

    Do you mean DreamScene?

I tried that a while back and it does look really cool. I think it adversely affects system performance though. It's the equivalent to looping HD video and then simultaneously using your computer for other tasks; not horrible, but not ideal either.

Ah yes, that was it...it's not something I'll keep on for long - just more for curiosity's sake.

Now that I'm looking at it though, the MUI might not be as useful as I thought - does it change the system locale for nonUnicode characters?

I am a PC guy with a new 15 MBP 2.4ghz. I am waiting for a single 2 gb stick for a total of 3 to install XP pro. I personally shied away from a PC because of Vista. That is why I am waiting for SP1, to buy and install on my Mac.
But, I am having SERIOUS withdrawals from the lack of software that is incompatible because .exe are verboten!!!
I should have the stick within a week, I will give my impressions then. I also will be running Supreme Commander, which will arrive around the same time.

Living in Cuba is a *****, when it comes to delivery times! Also a reason why I bought Mac, as they are more reliable than the next on my list.

    Good luck
