When I read "Arrogance is Ugly" from the article it pointed to I just burst out laughing. This guy obviously isn't made of money, or isn't very familiar with capitalistic USA. I still can't get over *his* arrogance, that he thinks *Arrogance itself* is ugly. The irony, oh the irony!

I've played around with a Macbook once, and having never had one for any extended period of time, (All PCs), my next laptop is going to be a Macbook or Pro. It isn't so much as I dislike Vista, (which I do, but tolerate anyway), but rather companies who make laptops like Dell which are going down the drain.

I think you people are misunderstanding the meaning of true arrogance.

    Arrogance:
    Pronunciation:
    \ˈer-ə-gən(t)s, ˈa-rə-\
    Function:
    noun
    Date:
    14th century
an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions

Now, with that out of the way. I understand that some Apple products are superior, the Ipod for example, maybe not hardware wise (debatable), but a small child sees an mp3 player at a store (regardless of brand) and says, "Daddy I want that iPod," then it is obvious which product is commercially superior. But most of Apple's products are just different.

This kind of discussion is so overbearingly subjective that it is pointless to talk about. As far as the PC vs Mac debate, I could care less, I use PCs because it is what I grew up with and I know windows like the back of my hand.

Meh, useless blabber, sorry. Just figured I would give my point of view.

hahah it's ok man I see your point. I'm just a really neutral person, and pretty much anything makes me laugh, no matter what os im using :p. So yeah I always see the funny side of things, i take a lot of things lightly, like that picture! but i guess i could see how that would offend some people attached to the borg. lol

lol, yes it does kinda look like a shiny white toy thinger. In fact, in most of my programming classes, most people are like why the hell do you have a mac? and why is it white? why is your computer white? are you gay? Its just that in Venezuela not many people have macs, and some people here in the development community dont even know they can run windows. But these are people who dont really care about anything else other than xp/vista.

lol. but when im at the library the hottest chicks come to ask me questions about the computer, and how cool it is that its white, and how they want me to give them a private mac lesson at their place, so win win ;)

I like Vista ok, although I'm hard pressed to say what the killer feature or main improvement is over XP.

I also enjoy the low level boil between Apple and M$.

I always think of that time when Steve Jobs said that "Microsoft has no style and no class." It's so true on so many levels.

Well, at first I was really looking forward to Vista. I installed it on a four year old system that, to my surprise, was more than capable of running the O/S and Aero. I also installed it on my uncle's PC and even on my MBP, but at the end of the day I just found it really annoying.

I enjoyed Windows 98SE and Windows XP, but I couldn't care less about Vista. Vista is like those cars with the automatic seat-belts that slide across the door frame and cover you. Sure it's there to protect you and make life a little easier, but all it does is get in the way and irritate the hell out of you.

I'll look forward to Windows Seven and OS X Kitty Kat, but otherwise, I'll skip Vista all together if possible. I'll keep Windows XP on standby.

    I loved 95, I loved 2000, I love XP, I despise Vista.

It's just an improper OS in my view, and I just can't use it. The one thing that Vista has over XP is dx10, and that won't even be used in full swing for a long time. All the major game systems out right now have graphics libraries similar to dx9, so most companies are doing most of their development there, to make porting easier.

Of course, I don't think Leopard is that awesome of an upgrade from Tiger, either. On it's own it's brilliant, but I don't see the justification in a $130 price tag to upgrade for a couple of features. Boot Camp, Time Machine, Spaces, Stacks, 3d dock. Those just aren't that important to me(except for maybe spaces and boot camp).

My comment wasnt directly targetted at you..my comment was more so targetted at the stupidness of Mac, and the fact that they think that they're more superior then anyone..seriously..i would find linux's unbantu (or however which way it is spelled), better then a Mac..
My personal opinion? Without BootCamp, Mac is Nothing..i'm sorry..but that's just my opinion

It is completely perplexing how the term used to describe Vista is this thread ever came to refer to something undesirable in the common vernacular.

    Yes and no.

Visually, it's not that different, and you could probably keep using Tiger without any problems.

    Check out this awesome review:

    http://arstechnica.com/reviews/os/mac-os-x-10-5.ars

Most of the changes are under the hood and lay the groundwork for the future. I've only had Leopard for 24 hours, but, it feels tight overall. Feels more responsive in a lot of situations.

Is $130 a lot of money?

I got my copy of Vista Home Premium for $240. I'm lame, I paid retail.

Tiger and Leopard would cost $260. That's pretty much 2 for 1.

This is based on just my personal experience. By now, I have used about 10 computers including Apple II, MSX, IBM PC and etc. Around 1 year ago, I got my first mac, MacBook Pro C2D. It worked well at the beginning. Oh well... after 2 months, it started to crash. During 10 months of using that computer, it freezed over 10 times, application crashed at least one more time a day. Who said a Mac is fairly stable? It was just a little bit better than Win 98. OS stability? I think Win XP SP2 is NOT worse than Mac OS X or better. One more thing. Some mac crazy people also drive me crazy. I know most of you are very neutral. But, sometimes I see some people who always say something bad on M$ by repeating

"Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and Windows is a just crappy copy of Mac OS, and ....forever!"

Mac OS is a original itself? Generally, a window system is just from X-windows system which was developed late 1970 as far as I know. Spaces? I've used it a lot on my Gnome or KDE Desktop like other many features in Mac OS X.

Now, I sold it out, and get rid of my flaming anger at my past macbook pro.
    I am in peace.

Here, I don't mean to be aggressive to anyone.

tkfadms, people who say that are pure, blind Mac fanboys :D.

And worth noting that you will get equally aggressive and blind Mac haters as well, who just bash everything about the Mac.

The majority of Mac and Windows users are pretty neutral on the issue.

That background is going a bit far... but i have to agree with it. I dont want to deal with vista and all of its crap, therefore, Macbook Pro on its way. :)
