Should I install vista or xp on bootcamp? I have a macbook and I'm worried that the integrated gfx won't support/make vista better. So is it wise to just install xp? Main reason I will be using bootcamp is because I want to play MS Flight Simulator X :)

XP. Mainly because most games out aren't optimized for Vista. There's a host of Vista driver issues affecting game play (don't know if MS Flight Simulator X is 1 of them, it'll be ironic) and also don't know if boot camp supports Vista at this point.

I Remember This Website Where This Guy Went Over All The Driver Issues And Fixed Them. Theres Another Website That Even Gets The Remote Working! I Have Vista On My Bottom Spec Macbook. Aero Glass Works Fine. I Upgraded The Direct X And The Graphics Are Fine.

if you want to play games then you should stick to XP, but as noted the Macbook may not be capable of playing the game you want: check if the GMA950 is good enough.

My desktop with a Nvidia 6600GT could barely handle FS X in low quality mode. I don't think the GMA 950 will be very playable either.

I wouldn't really consider the MacBook a gaming laptop by any stretch of the imagination. But, stick with XP if that's what you plan on doing.

    XP.

simply because Vista is not really very good right now. Really not ready for prime time and ... well, you should know better than to go with a new MS OS before SP1 comes out.

Sorry, but there's no way FSX is going to run on a GMA950. I have my doubts about it even running on the Macbook Pro, which has an X1600.

I'm running Vista with awesome results on a MacBook Pro.

You could run Vista with the Aero stuff killed and it would prolly do ok on a MacBook, but XP is really at a nice place right now. Stable and most everything works.

From what I've heard, owing to the immaturity of Vista drivers, it absolutely murders your battery life.

Possibly. I rarely ever use the battery.

For a just out of the box OS it's working very well.

I'm mostly using Vista to be an early adopter. XP is solid and mature and would be a solid choice for the foreseeable future.
