What do you mean by crash? Does Explorer.exe crash, or does the whole OS freeze up?

I think it might be a driver issue. Nvidia 9400 chipset is brand new so I suspect thats the problem.

Returned it because Vista freezes at least twice a day. They did not charge me restocking fee.

Have you tried new video drivers directly from Nvidia.com? (Just force installing the newest regular reference drivers?)

I'd guess it's either a video or chipset drivers issue.

Issues with Windows on that non-Intel chipset is exactly why I should probably avoid the new Macbook Pros :(

Yes, it was. It may have been the drivers though.

Could be it's using a feature on the GPU that's causing it to crash. That's certainly happened before.

Personally I'd just try forcing the regular Nvidia drivers to install. Nvidia can't post drivers for most mobile GPUs, but they're all the same thing. It'll claim there's no compatible hardware there, but there actually is. When I've done it, it even still knows it's a mobile GPU. The only thing missing from the drivers AFAIK is a line in the INF file that tells it it's okay to install.

You could use modded inf files, but personally I'm more comfortable just force installing the regular drivers.

Do you have any peripheral USB devices connected to your Macbook? Try removing any unnecessary devices (if applicable).

Are you using Apple supplied memory or third party memory? Try switching back to Apple memory if you are using third party memory.

RAM dhould make no difference anyway-I mean if it's defective it's defective, but it could be whether you got it from Apple or someone else.

Are you getting a memory leak? Check to see if you memory usage continues to rise and rise. It could be a conflict between applications and/or drivers.

I had this problem after installing vista 64 bit. My system would freeze randomly while pages were being loaded. I went to apples support site and downloaded the 64 bit vista boot camp package and my computer has not frozen since installing (2 days). I don't know what's different compared to the drivers on the Leopard disc...but it seems to be working...so far.
