intel gma 950. its not very good, its definitely not designed to play any 3d games. the games it can play reasonably are several years old.

it will run half life 2 at very low settings and resolution. that is the best it can do.

it MIGHT be able to run doom 3 or quake 4, but even at low settings the framerate will make it unplayable.

it cannot run new games like tom clancy rainbow six vegas, or ut3, bioshock, crysis. that sort of thing.

What games/types of games do you plan to play on the MB?

The GMA 950 isnt designed for gaming but it can handle games(mainly older titles).

Take a look at the GMA 950 Screenshot thread. It shows various screen shots of games that you might be interested in and their quality/settings/problems/"playability".

oh yeah. obviously if you go back a few years you can find some great hits.

    enemy territory: castle wolfenstein

    halo

cs 1.6 / original half life

    quake III

    ut2004 on lower settings

i think it runs C&C 3 ok, but any previous C&C will stand up better.

Yeah as long as it's Warcraft 1-3... World of Warcraft once you hit expansion areas... or BG's worthless to even bother.

Macbook Pro FTW if you want to play like that decently

Aright took me 30 minutes! :p

So I installed Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos.. Without playing it I then installed the expansion Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne
Then without playing it I went to http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=mwr0744p and downloaded the latest patch for the game. Scroll down till you hit "universal"

Now the reason you need to install this patch immediately is that it patches the mac version of the WC3 game to make it usable on the intel based mac machines. Anyway I went to run the game and the highest resolution available 1280x800x32 I had it set to and I had ALL setting MAXED. I did a skirmish game and the Frames per second was between 45-65... So all in all the game runs beautifully.. Now for my current system specs I ran it on it is the following:

    Macbook:
    2.0 Ghz
    1Gb RAM
    Integrated Vid card
    80 Gb HDD 5400 RPM

So as you can see it's low-end of the current macbooks. But anyway yeah the game is pretty old so it's expected it'd run well on a new integrated card.

    Enjoy!
