If this information is somewhere else, let me know. The stickies didn't seem relevant.

I'm looking at trading an old laptop + some extras for a Mac Book, but I don't really know much about Macs. Using the serial number, I was able to identify it as this model:
    MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (Mid-2010) Specs (Mid-2010, MC516LL/A, MacBook7,1, A1342, 2395*) @ EveryMac.com

The main thing I want to know is, how much is it worth (ballpark)? Also, are there any pitfalls with that model I should know about?

    Thanks!

Apple sells these for $999 new, so given the overall condition and if there is an Apple Care pack (extended warranty) I'd just guess at something like $6-700. There is a bit of the original warranty left (how much depends on when it was bought) as Apple started selling them in mid May 2010. All Macs have a one-year standard warranty.

There isn't much to say about them, unless dropped or otherwise mishandled, it is a sturdy laptop. Prone to smudges and scratches unless it is babied or one buys a Speck case for it. Here's a review of one: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Apple-MacBook-2010-05-Notebook.32430.0.html

It is the last year model and the MacBook will (hopefully!) get updated in a few weeks time.

It's the white macbook? WIth 320m? If so yeah I say if $700 on Craigslist if it's in good condition. If you can find the right buyer. But $600 is a good price that I think should sell. If not ebay for sure.

Apples hold resale value very well. If condition is perfect, you can sell between $850-950. I just sold my 13" MBPro 2011 for $1050.

Since Ebay does not collect taxes I think you can sell it for 900.
But they will take around 8 percent.
So 800 is what your looking at.

Yuck. Those white one's arent so easy to sell.

Their screens are much lower quality than those of the unibody MBPs, and they just aren't as sexy as the unibody ones. I would say ~$600, maybe a TINY bit more with apple care remaining

Hmm. Topic says MB Pro but link is regular MacBook. You're right, the regulars are a hard sell.
