    I purchased Witopia VPN service for my (now rather old) PC. It was not too expensive and, as I understand it, creates a tunnel for my signals when I am on a public network so noone can get at my data. There is also something called a VPN on the Mac, but it seems to be something different, and definitely more complex to create. Is it in fact something different? Thanks.

    a VPN is a VPN... a virtual private network. How its going to work and how easy it is to use depends on the software/service/whatever your using.

    For the mac, does the VPN come with a service, or is the mac just set up for it but you have to also pay for a service (in which case I might as well stick with Witopia with which I have been satisfied)?

    VPN... it depends what your doing...

    thats like asking if a Mac comes with a network connection or if you have to pay for a service... theres many devices a network connection can be connected to...

    what exactly did your VPN service do... what features are you looking for?
