So...is there a way to use my MBP as a display instead of a TV for a Wii since I dont want to spend any extra money on a TV. Thanks!

I'd love to be able to play my Wii using my monitor too... would a standard TV tuner work? (with the AV ports)

I think some companies offer Mac compatible USB TV tuners. As long as the tuner has AV ports and is compatible with Mac OS (unless you use bootcamp), the Wii should connect fine.

You can input to a laptop or iMac monitor using a USB TV tuner, and there are a few HD versions out there. But they're all pretty hardware intensive, and there is almost always a lag, making playing games pretty hard. And when I say lag, I mean that the action you make takes about 1 second or more to show up on the screen.

A lot of the tuners out there are the same one, just rebranded. I got a Hauppage 950 and it works with Eyetv.

You can use it with compositve video and s-video. Though as for playing games in HD, i dont think you can do that.

As far as I know theres no USB component adapter, and theres little chance that theres some kinda digital converter for usb.

But for watching HD Tv thats fine, a lotta tuners out there for that.

I've personally tried using a TV tuner solution to game with.

It does not turn out very well at all. It's best to get a TV or a monitor and use the DVI input.

yea, lag would be killer in a game.

id just invest in a monitor.

why would you want to have to bring a WII with you everywhere anyways :)

I dont know what you guys are talking about.

Games run perfectly fine using EyeTV in osx, and in windows I use DScaler.

I've been playing games on my pc for years, and never had any problem with it. Unless youre using some bad program, or running too many filters, it runs fine.

I must say that I have the best thing I ever purchased was a cheap projector. You should be able to pick one now up for a few hundred $, maybe check ebay for a good deal. Playing wii on a ~3x3m screen/wall is just... well very very nice.
It was the one of the best investments I ever made. NB: all you need is a white flat wall to project on... And best of all it also doubles a huge screen tv, at a fraction of the price and space.

    Yeah, those work pretty well.

Until you have to pay $$$ to replace the bulbs. They don't last very long :-/

True, although I got ~2 years (~2000 hrs) out of my first bulb, and was lucky that there was a sale on and I got the replacement for less than half price. Its a benq 6110 projector by the way. Thus given that I spent ~$600 3 years ago + 200 for replacement bulb, I still think that the 2.5m screen in my living room is extremely cheap in comparison to the competition/lcd tv.
