As specified in the title, I'm just curious which out of these five types of memory brands is the best. There might be no difference at all and its simply just the price, I really don't know. They are all 2GB DDR2 667 200-Pin, and the one I am thinking of picking up is the crucial at $59.99. My Apple is a MacBook Pro and I am upgrading to 4GB because I just purchased Leopard and have some HD video editing ahead of me. By the way, I'm in Canada, so can't buy anything off Newegg or other American online retailers, regrettably...

Here's the different types of memory:

    Best Buy:
    K-Byte 2GB - $99.99
    Titan 2GB - $69.99

    Futureshop:
    Crucial 2GB - $59.99 <---$20 off

There may be a chance that one of the Futureshop products go on sale sometime within the next week or so because they are promoting some web deals of the day thing.

Any advice would be helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I haven't heard of any of the other brands besides Crucial, but if you are concerned on whether or not they are legit, go to their website and make sure the RAM is backed by a lifetime warranty. Crucial memory is always a great choice. I bought a 1GB of Crucial memory and have had no problems. Works great!

But in all honesty go for the cheapest deal you can get, they are all really the same. If you can get Crucial for the cheapest then so be it, otherwise do not hesitate to go with any other brands, just be sure to check out the warranty.

If you have 2GB now, you should check the configuration. The standard setup is two 1GB sticks. To upgrade this to 4GB, you would need to remove those and replace them with two 2GB sticks.

Corsair has a specific "for Mac" low latency 4GB pack for a little more than what other makers charge but I trust Corsair, so I got that for my MBP.

I think he's planning on buying 2 sticks. And IMO, "mac specific" ram is a waste. All ram works.

I'm using Mushkin memory in my MB. 2 x 2gb sticks. One is actually "tested" for a Mac while the other isn't. I haven't had any problems yet and I paid about $40 per stick.

Brands don't really matter that much, the price is more important. I would go for Crucial though, as its low priced here and has a great reputation.

I use Corsair and it's been great. They usually have good rebate specials, too... although really, you can't go wrong with Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, or OCZ.
