I need some advice for upgrading a MacBook ( 13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) running 10.8.5. I'm not very familiar with Apple in general.

- Are there any restrictions for upgrading the HDD, besides the SATA 2 interface? It will either be a Seagate SSHD or a SSD.

- Go for latest Mavericks now or wait for Yosemite? I would assume the former since I can upgrade it later, and Yosemite may have some fresh out of the oven bugs, but I might as well ask anyway since I'm not in a hurry.

- Is Time Machine all I need to restore all data, or are there any exceptions? Does it even work at all?

- Can this laptop use more than 4 GB RAM? I find conflicting sources.

- Anything else I should know? :)
