    Upgrading Apple Operating System

    My Wife has an older Apple laptop running OSX version 10.5.8. I need to upgrade to OSX version 10.6 or later in order to connect to our new printer. Can/how do I upgrade the operating system on an Apple? Where can I get the OSX software?
