The word Apple and Upgrade don't go hand in hand.

Want something new. Wait a few months after its been released to everyone else and then pay for a completely new macbook.

The VRAM, GPU, and CPU are soldered on the motherboard on all Apple laptops. They can't be removed or changed.

And no MacBook Pro ever had the option of a 8800GT. And you're not gaining much if anything going from 256MB to 512MB on a 8600M GT.

The answer is no, and next time you see your friend a gentle knee to the crotch might be in order for giving you very bad info.

And FYI, that's true of ALL notebooks. The only exceptions are if the GPU isn't sodered onto the motherboard, AND the computer maker offered more than one GPU for that exact system, AND you bought less the the top of the line GPU to begin with.

And I wish Apple would give us an 8800 class GPU...

You can upgrade, if you were to change out the whole logic board. Though apple wont do it for you, youd have to buy a new logic board and get someone to install if for you.

Technically you can do it, but its way too much of a hassle for normal people to bother with.

Well, technically but you're basically just buying a whole new system.

NO, you cant, the MBP graphic card is soldered onto the Motherboard (logicboard in apple speak). the 8800m GT is far too hot anyway.
