Does this mean a full recharge? What if I use my laptop for like 10 mins not plugged in, is it better to now use it unplugged until its almost dead then plug it in?

It means a full recharge. What is called a cycle.

Edit: On second thought, I'm not exactly sure how it handles partial charges, but obviously 10 mins is not a recharge.

If you read Apples battery FAQs, it is rated for 1000 cycles. 1 cycle is a full recharge. If you use the battery 50% and recharge it only counts as 1/2 cycle. If you drain the battery to 80%, that's only 1/5 of a cycle. It keeps track of partial cycles and adds them up cumulatively.

For example: if you drain to 80% and recharge each day for 5 days in a row it will only count 1 cycle. As I understand it, the way this works is due to the new battery circuitry which is smart enough to draw power from the different cells internally so they all get in the charging/usage rotation equally.

I've had my MBP since last August and I use/recharge it pretty much every day and I've only recorded about 80 cycles.

    If you go:
    Apple symbol
    About this Mac
    More Info
    Hardware
    Power

It lists your cycle count. Mine is currently 92 after having it since early December.
