Hi i just bought a new Universal iPod Dock (late 2010 model with metal remote) which i ordered directly from apple (telephone order).

i'm using the dock with my iPod Clickwheel (4th Generation), which i bought the correct apple universal adapter for it.

the problem i'm having is that sometimes the remote wont respond. either all the buttons, just the volume up/down, next/previous buttons, or just the play/pause button.

to fix this i need to bring the remote very close to the dock's IR port and press some buttons (usually play/pause button). which after a few try it will connect again with the remote, which then allow me to go back to where i was listening before(about 2-3 meters away from the dock).

have i gotten a defective product?

hmmm... the IR seem needs to be "re-connected" close range (within 5cm) if i ever so happen to use the button on my ipod.

after a while if it turn to sleep i can turn the ipod on (play) via the remote long range but after the music plays i can't do anything with the remote; it needs to be "re-connected" close range again.
