From pictures ( http://www.notebookreview.com/picture.asp?f=38430) there doesn't seem to be any numpad number on the keyboard...
Do they work, even though they are not actually on physical keyboard?
Does the numpad work when boot in Windows?
I hear that the keyboard is cleaver, so that if you are in Windows the keys know what you mean e.g. CMD-F4 = Alt-F4. Anyone confirm this?
Thanks

Most note books don't have the number pad, it just doesn't fit.
Do what work?
There is no number pad.
There is a alt button, in windows you hold the FN-Control-Option(this is the alt button)-Delete to open the task manager for example. If you want Alt-f4 you hold FN-Option-F4. -
Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I meant the numpad which you hold down the Function key for, on most normal laptops.
So can you do something like:
FN-Option-J to get the number 1?
Thanks -
nope,
∆ <--- this is what i get with FN+Option+J
you could try a usb keypad, however it would be on the left side =\ -
Hmmm ¡™£¢∞§¶•ªº–≠œ∑´®†¥¨ˆøπ“‘åß∂ƒ©˙∆˚¬…æΩ≈ç√∫˜µ≤≥÷ Nope doesn't seem like it.

Well, on my older MBP, there is a numlock, with a numpad replacing part of the keys. Though I always found it was useless, never really used it.
Maybe they took that out with the new gen, never really looked. If they did, youre not missing much.
Though an external keyboard with a numpad will still work fine. -
I wonder if they will release a new keyboard for the MBP 17" with a number pad, much like the wired keyboard for the iMacs but in black. -
Yeah, Apple's older Mac notebooks did have the numpad on the keyboard. I've never used it on a Windows PC or a Mac notebook. It's so difficult to try and simulate a standard keypad which makes it useless. Probably why Apple got rid of that feature. BTW Samuell, Macs ARE normal notebooks. Just because they're not a physical Windows machines doesn't mean that Macs aren't "normal" notebooks.

If you really want one, you can try something like this app for iphone/ipod touch.
Looks pretty neat.
If it was free id get it ;p -
i don't know why someone is saying you have to press function-option-whatever to use alt when booted into windows. alt works just fine... alt+f4 closes windows, alt+t opens a new tab in firefox, alt+tab cycles windows, etc. no need for function key in windows unless you want to use the actual function keys (f1-f12, top row) instead of their default hardware options enabled in boot camp. and that is changeable in the boot camp control panel.
