Can the glass be removed and replaced with the old MBP matte screen?

Any indication Apple will provide a matte screen option?

I doubt its ever going to happen, and I doubt that the old screen would fit in the new.

This is the sole reason I'm not a Mac user now. I'm glad I didn't, Windows 7 has been phenomenal in beta.

Apple may offer a matte screen option in the future for the 15" just as they did for the 17", but don't expect them to do it anytime soon. The glossy screen really ain't too bad. I was hesitant about it because of the glossy screen, but its really not as bad as it's made out to be. The screen brightness compensates for the reflectivity of the surface.

Not "crappy", they replace it with a standard matte panel that's the same specs as apple's. You loose the "Macbook Pro" logo at the bottom of the screen though.

I wonder if there is a "less costly" solution to the (Glossy) screen on the MBP.

Has anyone heard of a "anti glare film" or another choice that won't affect the screen view other than replacing the whole LCD ????

I know that there were "Anti-Glare" screen films for the black/white MBs, so they definitely exist. And by now, there are probably some for the MBP as well.

hmm interesting. does anyone know what kind of panel they replace it with and if this is true? specs of lcd panels are always fudged anyway, so it'd be nice to know the panel mfr, etc.
