It's going on my 2nd month and hadn't have one single problem yet.
until today. When I was looking at my display I noticed something i haven't before, when I started using a wallpaper that is mainly white I found in the lower left hand corner there is like large black discolor, almost looks like part of a circle showing in the corner, its fairly large as well and extremely annoying.
Is this suppose to be the Apple display that we hear so much about?
Can someone tell me if this is covered under warranty I have APP.
To get an better idea of what I mean, if you look at the shadowing effect that windows leave, its kinda like that except its in my lower right corner and my left, the left side is big.
-
apple doesnt make the display so you cant blame them exactly. but if it isnt impact damage of course apple will cover it.
-
Did you have a magnet, perhaps magsafe near your screen? Magnets will cause discoloration to lcd screens.
-
Since I've had this, the notebook really never left the desk yet. So i highly doubt its impact damage.
The magnet is definitely a thought I had, but I know better than to wave a magnet around a display, I don't know if the magnet in the magsafe is strong enough to do such a thing.
However, guess I'm going to have to give AppleCare a call.
When its on something I look at all day (display obvisually) its incredibly annoying to see something like that, and I'm not going to change wallpaper just so i dont have to bother with it. -
-
The thing is, its only really noticeable on a white background, with anything with colors or the such , its pretty much impossible to see it.
However, I don't want anything to make this notebook have a lower resale value in the future when I sell it.
The thing I don't like about the idea on sending this back is getting a display back thats even worse...dead pixels or stuck pixels. -
Yeah that would suck, I would send it in and hope to get a perfect one.
-
Note: The computer side of the magsafe is the magnetized half, the powersupply side has little to no magnetism.
-
yikes, that sucks about your screen. I'd call Apple asap to figure out something.
-
I'd say let a Mac Genius or an AASP have a look at it, there's not that much Applecare could do over the phone with that kind of issue except to refer you to one of those.
-
I'd think I'd need to call anyways to get the referral and whatnot, because theres no way I'm gonna pay money out of my own pocket to have someone look at it.
I'm not sure how Apple works with Apple stores and Authorized repair spots (I have this), but I wouldn't want to bring something in and get charged for it, but only to wait for applecare to reimburse me or something. -
yikes.....hope you get ur problem fix.
-
Well I decided to ignore it for now, as its only noticable on a full white screen. I normally have color wallpapers anyways and its not that bad.
Plus I figure I wait until near the end of my warranty or until it gets worse, maybe I'll get lucky and get a free upgrade. -
Hey xbandaidx do you know any websites that have good 1280x800 wallpapers?
-
Did you ever have like external speakers around your laptop? The color on my old screen was sort of discolored because of the speakers.
-
You too!
Is there any macbook/macbook pro owner who hasnt had a problem with their notebook.
Well it doesnt sound too bad, but those little nagging sort of things can cause psychological stress.
Sigh -
Oops double post.
Its not that bad really, only see it when screen is totally white. barely can see it.
Uh oh. My display!
