    hello,

can anyone offer some advice regarding running unix/linux on powerbooks.

i am in the process of learning linux. and i know that mac os is based on bsd. however. from the little expierce ive had using nix programs on my desktop mac i know that its a little different than the usual unix/linux. thinks have to be tweaked to run properly often it seems.

im going to be needing to run a bit of bleeding edge software. and using a orinoco pc card rather than the built in wireless.

i would very much like to buy a powerbook but it seems that most likely id be better of getting windows laptop and puttin a linux distro on it. at least until i thoroughly understand linux and unix.

or will nix on a powerbooks be fine as i learn more?

i know i could do a dual boot with yellow dog. but id rather not be tied to one type of distro if i end up using distros rather than mac os x.

    thanks,
    ian
