I have a question. I just recently purchased a new 5th gen itouch 64 gb. Before that, I was using my old iphone 3GS as my primary ipod. I was wondering, is there any way besides the "external drive copy method" that I could transfer my songs from my old 3GS to my new itouch? I had the following idea but Im not sure if it would work or not.
The idea was if I could just completely wipe my old 3GS (AFTER I back it up of course), plug in my new itouch to my itunes and transfer everything that was once on my 3GS to my new itouch? I remember having to do this when I had to get my iphone 5 replaced because of a defective power button. All I had to do was go home, plug in my new iphone 5 and voila! Everything was transferred! However, Im not sure if that will work or not due to the devices in question being an iphone and an itouch and not 2 iphones like it was last time.
If anyone could please help me figure out a way to transfer everything over from the old device to my new itouch, it would be greatly appreciated!

The process should be exactly the same as it was with your phones. By the way, it's iPod Touch, not iTouch

That will work so long as everything you want to sync to your iPod touch is in your iTunes library. You could then just sync it from the backup of your 3GS. Things get complicated if you are storing content solely on your 3GS, your plan won't work if you are doing that as the backup of the 3GS won't include the content stored solely on it, the backup is essentially sync instructions for iTunes. The content must be in your iTunes library in order for your plan to work.

By the way thanks for your help regarding this matter. -
Everything should be on your computer. If it is not, then put it there.
You can then sync it to all of your idevices. -
Big pet peeve of mine, haha.
