Just curious if this is possible? I am currently with Rogers, and plan to buy an iPhone from them rather soon, but am on a 2 year plan and would like to avoid the termination fee. Is it possible, since it's the same provider, to just "switch" to an iPhone and avoid paying the fee on the phone I already have? Or will I have to terminate it, pay, and then buy the iPhone?

I think it depends on the plan, and how long you've been on the plan I think after a year you can upgrade your phone, But if your on a family plan Like I am from what I have read you can't upgrade to the iphone.

Is the provider you're on currently use GSM? If you want you can pick up a 2G iphone and unlock it for use with other carriers.

I just got my iPhone. Parents surprised me with it on my birthday. Looks like they switched the account just fine. What a machine! It's amazing!

Just a question, I'm connected to my WiFi but I still guess it uses the nomral phone service for texts right?

Ah ok, thanks. Darn, I don't know why I didn't get this sooner. Won't be able to go back to a normal phone, ever xD
