I realize this type of thread probably belongs on 'Mac Rumors' but nevertheless I thought it was fairly intresting to see that the next macbook is reportedly to have a touchscreen display ( I believe to replace the FKeys) if I understand it correctly, but more importantly it will have TouchID, USB-C, and Thunderbolt 3.

For me personally though, in the end if this thing has an AMD card (again) I'm out... As being a shareholder, and a HUGE supporter of Nvidia there is a reason why their stock ticker has more then doubled in the last single year where as AMD also has doubled but the MAIN difference is that AMD's has doubled from $2 to $4 (Whopptiedooo) while Nvidia has gone from $20 to $45.

AMD can keep the console game business cause it's doing so well for them....

Would be an interesting idea if the rumored notebook also has a display that folds all the way back (a "tablet mode", if you will). Personally don't see the point of tocuh screens on traditional clamshell laptops.

Should be a decent touch screen too, since Apple already has a fair bit of experience in the ipod/iphone/ipad area as far as such tech goes. Just scale it up to 13" and above.

Chiropractors and physiotherapists love those, brings in a lot of business from people with back and neck problems cause by the poor ergonomics of extending your arms out to use the touch screen...

^ I thought chiropractors mostly brought in business from insurance fraudsters? :p

Oh Hell No, i absolutely loathe touchscreens (on my laptops atleast). I never found the appeal of a touchscreen laptop, seems like a lot of unnecessary poking

You know oddly enough, where touchscreen or 'Display' I have a feeling it's going to come down to the software or GUI if you will in terms of how well it is integrated/implemented. If they do it well and do it right then I suppose anything is possible. But again I think it's more about UI and experience then the actual hardware, but that's just me. For starters I'm not incredibly sold on Force Click but I'm open for other implementations.

Apple would never cannibalize their iPad pro sales by introducing a touch rMBP. Would make absolutely no sense to buy an ipad pro at that point.

^ Never say never... Although unlikely at this time you never know what Apple will come up with... Touch enabled rMBP makes no sense in the clamshell format, I wouldn't be surprised if in some lab down deep in Apple's facilities someone is looking at touch optimized OS X / Hardware combinations...

It's funny because I made a video demo of my X41 Tablet running OS X leopard in 2008 with touch features before even the iPad was released, and sent to apple. Of course they were not pleased with the hackintosh thing and I was told to cease and desist.

Fast forward 2016 and now there is iPad Pro and apple pencil.

Eh, I'd say never do free work for a company (in this case, R&D). Best case is they ignore you and/or steal your idea, worse is they threaten you legally.

I was hoping for an actual job at the time lol. I understood OS X inside-out at the time and even modified/wrote my own kexts.

    shame...

Man, I wish I had the technical know-how to mess around with an OS's guts so deeply like that.

That said, Apple's been on a bit of a hiring spree as of late. Actually have one of my friends hired by them for their engineering department and she seems to love it there in CA. So I suppose it wouldn't hurt to throw your resume back at them if you're still looking.

But I"m no longer CS oriented, just biomedical engineering/general engineering. I wonder if they are still hiring people like me, I could really use a job

Isn't Apple trying to compete with Fitbit? Just thinking out loud here.
