Looks like the Dell 3008WFP is the top dog....the specs far exceed the 30 cinema which is disappointing. The Dell is 1999 while the cinema is 1799, but its frustrating to consider a cinema when the specs arent up to par...and the dell supports HDCP.

Apple must be revising this monitor soon...dell is running away with it.

Apple needs to top the Dell and regain the top 30" spot!

Well, Apple's supposed to have updated the Cinema Displays since like a year ago, all speculation pointed out to one with an integrated iSight camera to round up the Mac lineup.

No device or gadget stays on top forever, commish.

Dell makes great monitors; am using an old 2405 at the moment, and aside from needing to be dusted off, it still works well. I think it must now be at least 2.5 years old, and never has failed in any way. That new Dell 30" is probaby terrific.

My guess is that they will redesign them at some point this year, or atleast update them to use LED backlights, as I believe they mentioned that they would do this in all their displays before the end of 2008, correct?

What are you guys talking about? Eizo FlexScan SX3031W wins hands down! Although it does cost about twice as much as the Apple or the Samsung or the Dell.

I'm just saying Apple is such a great company they should offer updated cinemas...I want one but I cant get myself to spend 1700 when I know for 1800 I can get the REAL top of the line Dell.

Will the macbook pro easily connect with the 2008WFP?

How many threads do we need on your display needs, thecommish? :p :p

Just buy a screen and stop worrying. Dell certainly doesn't hold any top spot in terms of LCDs.

No, Dells are decent, but they are NOT top dog. They don't reproduce colors all that well. I mean, they're pleasing and balanced, but the hell if I would ever touch a dell monitor if i did professional photo work.

I've never used their 30" but I've been very unimpressed with the 21" and 24" models.

Apple Cinema displays only have one DVI interface. You cannot use the screen with 2 computers unless you physically change the cables.
